Tee Up to Read
The Tee Up to Read program is brought to you by the Kisner Foundation, in partnership with Ferst Readers. Together, under The Tee Up to Read program, Ferst Readers of Aiken County sends one age-appropriate book every month to a child until their fifth birthday. Included with each book is a parent/caregiver newsletter that contains additional tools and resources promoting the importance of reading and communicating with their child beginning at birth. These resources help better prepare a child with the necessary skills before entering kindergarten.
There are 10,000 children in Aiken County ages birth-5. Many of these children do not receive any services or preparation for school before entering Kindergarten. Together, the goal is to establish a strong literacy foundation for a lifetime of learning across the CRSA.
Adopt a Reader
Help us by investing in a young child’s quest for learning today! Adopt a reader and your donation will go towards providing youth ages 0 – 5 with age appropriate books.
61% of low-income families don’t have a single book in the home suitable for a child.
A contribution of as low as $40 provides a year of quality, age-appropriate books for a child.
Reading aloud to young children is not only one of the best activities to stimulate language and cognitive skills; it also builds motivation, curiosity, and memory.
